The Essentials of Dreamwork and Advanced Dreamwork courses are aimed at practising psychotherapists. Applications are open to qualified psychotherapists; people who have finished the taught portion of the CCPE Diploma (or equivalent) will be considered on recommendation from their year tutor and/or the Director of Professional and Academic Studies.

The course will give an experiential immersion in a psycho-spiritual perspective in dreams and teach how to recognise and work with the spiritual guidance that is present in dreams. The course content will also relate dreamwork to alchemy, which can facilitate a profound understanding of the psycho-spiritual transformation process.

You must complete Essentials of Dreamwork in order to move on to Advanced Dreamwork.

Dream Work Certificate courses under the auspices of CCPE’s Dream Research Institute

Introduction

The intention of the Dreamwork Certificate Courses is to train people who want to deepen their understanding of dreams, to use the spiritual perspective in working with dreams and to recognise and work with the spiritual guidance that is present in dreams.

Our state of mind and inner world is reflected in our dreams. Our spirit can also speak to us in the dreams through voice, metaphor and action. It can warn us, help us to be more aware and lead us to the spirit that is waiting within to be discovered.

A method of working with dreams – The Waking Dream Process – has been developed by combining the creative imagination, psychological knowledge and healing, together with the use of the body as a feedback instrument, to help in the process of personal transformation and spiritual guidance. It is an extremely effective way of combining the spiritual and psychological approaches to healing and for distinguishing between the two.

We take time and care each year to form groups that will be safe, supportive environments for deep exploration of dreams and dreamwork from a spiritual perspective. To that end, all applicants are interviewed and are given opportunities to discuss what course is right for them.

The Course

The Essentials and Advanced Dreamwork courses are also experientially oriented, in that they are based on the dreams of the group members. Initially the course will be focused on demonstrating dreamwork and deepening the personal process of participants by following, expanding and connecting to their dreams. Later, especially in the Advanced course, members will have opportunities to practice skills by working with colleagues, supported by the facilitator. There is no written component of the course but you must attend at least 80% of the sessions, participate fully, and demonstrate readiness to work with people’s dreams in order to receive the certificate.

Some of the time spent on the course is used for the teaching of dream theory. However, students mainly present their dreams (and clients’ dreams if permission is granted by them) to the group during the session. The group facilitators work together with the students on their dreams. Time is also allotted for discussion, suggestions and questions on the dreamwork session.

You must complete Essentials of Dreamwork in order to move on to Advanced Dreamwork.

Please note that the Essentials of Dreamwork is not a requirement for the Essentials of Lucid Dreaming Course.

Curriculum Topics

Whilst we work with personal issues in the dreams, once we have resolved our major inner personal conflicts, access to the more transpersonal levels of self and to experiences of the more subtle levels of consciousness become possible. The many spiritual traditions have given different names to this process: some have called it spiritual awakening, some soul consciousness, and some have called it clear perception.

These subtle levels of consciousness appear first metaphorically in our dreams; later they begin to become conscious experiences in which we have a direct experience of this phenomenon. In our practical dreamwork sessions, we work through our issues and then learn how to access these states, thereby experiencing both a healing of our psyche and a sense of spiritual awakening. Gradually, we begin to develop a consciousness of our soul nature, leading to a much deeper understanding of ourselves than is possible with current psychotherapy methods.
