Essentials of Dreamwork and Advanced Dreamwork

The Essentials of Dreamwork and Advanced Dreamwork certificates (online or in-person) are aimed at practising psychotherapists and those in related professions. In a group of 4-6 colleagues, you will first get in touch with your own dreams and deepen your own process. In time, you will work with one another with the support of the facilitator to develop your ability to hold deep and transformative dreamwork for clients.

* Note: online dream groups for 2025 are currently waiting-list only. Get in touch via admissions@ccpe.org.uk to register interest.*

The Essentials of Dreamwork (online) and Advanced Dreamwork (online) certificates are aimed at practising psychotherapists. Applications are open to qualified psychotherapists; however people who have finished the taught portion of the CCPE Diploma (or equivalent) will be considered on recommendation from their year tutor and/or the Director of Professional and Academic Studies, or with a reference from an equivalent member of another training body.

The online dream group will give an experiential immersion in a psycho-spiritual perspective in dreams and teach how to recognise and work with the guidance that is present in dreams. The course content will also relate dreamwork to alchemy, which can facilitate a profound understanding of the psycho-spiritual transformation process.

You must complete Essentials of Dreamwork in order to move on to Advanced Dreamwork.

Who teaches the course?

One of our associates (see 'About Us' link at the top of the page) will lead the dream group. We will keep applicants informed about course and facilitator availability. Currently Melinda Powell and Dr Rashon Chowdhury facilitate our online groups.

What’s the schedule?

Scroll down to the bottom of this page for updates to 2025 details. The course is offered as 26-28 weekly sessions in three terms (winter, spring, and autumn) of 8-11 90-minute sessions each. The course starts in January and ends in November. There are no sessions in July or August.

What is the cost of the course?

The 2025 cost for Essentials (online) is £2495 for the year. Costs are subject to change.

How does the course work?

The Essentials and Advanced Dreamwork (online) certificates are based on participation in experiential online dream groups. The groups are focused on the dreams of the group members. Initially the facilitator will focus on demonstrating dreamwork and deepening the personal process of participants by following, expanding and connecting to their dreams. Later, especially at Advanced level, dream group members will have opportunities to practice skills by working with colleagues, supported by the facilitator. There is no written component of the course but you must attend at least 80% of the sessions, participate fully, and demonstrate readiness to work with people’s dreams in order to receive the certificate.

Some of the time spent on the course is used for the teaching of dream theory. However, students mainly present their dreams (and clients’ dreams if permission is granted by them) to the group during the session. The group facilitator works with the students on their dreams. Time is also allotted for discussion, suggestions and questions on the dreamwork session.
